Just like kitchens, bathrooms are important in the sale of a home.

Tip #1: Get the fundamentals correct

If you are selling a flat or a house, it's best to replace damaged or tired furniture and repaint the bathroom if it is painted an outdated colour.

Tip #2: Hygiene is important

Deep cleaning of a bathroom requires significant effort. You must eliminate mould and remove limescale from plugs and taps. Give the toilet and bathtub a good scrub and retile any broken tiles or peeling sealant.

Once the deep cleaning is done, normal bathroom cleaning is all that’s left. Light fixtures, mirrors, and all the surfaces should be given a good wipe down.

Tip #3: De-clutter

The bathroom is often filled with bottles of shampoo and soap, scrubbing brushes, and lotions. These are all necessary and needed in everyone’s bathrooms. However, all these things must be put away and out of sight when selling. The bathroom will look a little bare, but it must imitate a spa experience. We will fix the sparseness of the toilet when we add accessories.

Tip #4: Floors

One sacred rule for dressing a bathroom is no carpets or rugs.

If you have them, pull them up. If you find floorboards, don’t hesitate to sand, seal, and stain them. If there are no floorboards, putdown some neutral-coloured vinyl floor.

Tip #5: Walls

As always, neutral walls work best. If you want to step away from the eggshell-neutral look, white also looks nice in bathrooms, as it highlights the cleanliness of the space. Any cracked or broken tiles in the shower need to be replaced, and a good replacement for tiles in the bathroom is white tiles, which add to the freshness of the space and are cost-efficient.

Tip #6: Accessorise

All bathrooms need a decent-sized mirror above the sink, a medicine cabinet, and a heated towel rail, which is always a nice touch. The best way to dress the bathroom is to add some plants, some candles, fluffy new white towels, and a nice bar of soap in a soap dish.

When dressing a bathroom for viewings, it's important to maintain a clean and minimal aesthetic. A well-presented bathroom signals to potential buyers that little to no renovations are needed, which can help maintain the property's value. If buyers perceive that extensive work is required, they may lower their offer. Investing in refurbishments and making the bathroom appealing before the showings can ultimately lead to higher offers on the property.
